This website now contains a supplement (Appendix 4) written specifically for American citizens. It covers the outlines of US law and the specific issues to be considered if a visit to Switzerland is being contemplated. The author is Laura Carroll who is based in California. She is a former trial consultant and industrial psychology professional. She has also written several non-fiction books.
In the past five weeks this website has received 10,200 “hits”. 38% of these have been from the USA. 25% were from the United Kingdom and the remaining 37% came from the rest of the world – mostly (thanks to Google Translate) from countries that are not naturally English-speaking. However, when we launched the site in 2022, we thought we were catering for a purely British audience. Consequently it contains lengthy sections on law and inheritance which are of limited relevance to most visitors. Laura’s Appendix is intended to fill that gap.
The volume of traffic to this website has rather caught us by surprise. At this rate, we shall receive over 100,000 hits per year. This is not a huge number in itself but is certainly large in relation to the annual total of 650 overseas visitors who will actually have received an AVD in Switzerland in 2025.
